The Colombian Cultural House / Casa Cultural Colombiana has been bitten by the Latin art bug. As you may be aware, this has been developing in Mississauga, Toronto, and its surroundings, so once again we celebrate Latin American Heritage Month by presenting this virtual art gallery.
This exhibit is made up of a mixture of cultures, techniques, and colours. This space was created for art professionals as well as those who are beginning their artistic journey. By opening this virtual exhibit, it is providing an opportunity for people around the world to join the community from the comfort of their homes. This exhibit is showcasing the most precise expressions of the current era, under the professional stroke of twelve talented artists.
The artists will captivate you with Modernism, Impressionism, Symbolism, Abstract, and Contemporary art, as well as photography which will form a bond that will surely leave you wanting more.

Ana Gabriela Lopez Castro
“My body of work is inspired by Mexican folk art, colorful, diverse, and rich. Through my work, I want to show that by learning other cultures we can create communities inspired by each other, also the diverse mediums I use shows the different possibilities to create work.”
Angel Torres
ANGEL TORRES is a Colombian-Canadian photographer whose been photographing for arts and business publications in Toronto while organically developing his portraiture, travel, and urban landscape photography for over a decade. His work appears in Toronto’s corporate, art, LGBTQ, and media sectors, he has exhibited in Duesseldorf, Germany in 2018, and has ongoing exhibits at The Continental Dance Club – the main collector of the artist. As an independent entrepreneur, he balances charitable work and challenges creative comfort zones to benefit and fulfill his vision for an eclectic business clientele at ArchangelDesign.ca and an ever-growing clientele at Angel Torres Photography. His work always succeeds in capturing the humanity of his subjects and truth in storylines.
Carla Gonzalez
Carla Gonzalez-Casanova was born in Caracas, Venezuela came to Canada to pursue her dream of becoming a visual artist and has been doing art, exhibits, and commissions since 1995, she enjoys every medium in arts and strongly believes in art as a healing form and that all should explore it and finds what makes them tick by allowing themselves to paint, draw or sculpt their feelings.
Carlos Bahamon
Colombian born in the ’70s. I have been passionate about painting since I can remember; however, for around 15 years I have included it as a vital part of my professional activities.
This journey has brought me to the expression of various abstract scenarios by means of waves, which can be produced when a stone falls into a pool of water, or the movement of air in a shred of cloth. These movements and the volumes that arise from them, are sometimes captured as a thick and plastic liquid, as bands that overlap each other, simply as an excuse to exercise the organic part of color as a volume generating element that leads to visual sensations that they get to border on the psychedelic.
Claribel Angulo
“My approach to making a painting is much more intuitive, conceptual and emotive focusing on extracting singular experiences from nature, culture, motifs as well as personal symbols and patterns, both in representational and subjective matters. In my art, I like to capture the beauty of nature and mundane objects as an aim to present them as self-portraits- a narrative of the objects I surround myself with and my personal interests. Using mixed media allows me to express my eclectic personality”

“I let myself be captivated by the urban development of my city. Inspiring me to use new spaces, colors, materials, and, textures. I design paintings filled with color and symmetrical strokes fusing on each the concept of modern art, architecture, and design”.
Her work is inspired by the incredible sensations of the modern world, embodied through the development of cities and modern architecture with futuristic and minimalist fusions.
Flor de Maria Mejia
Flor de Maria was born in Lima, Peru; the love for painting started at an early age, never happier than when she was drawing and expressing her feelings doing so, her school notebooks were an expression of that love, which was never appreciated by her parents or teachers because she kept drawing during class time. This passion continued during her years in university, she graduated as an Engineer. She started painting with watercolor, acrylic, and oil. she took various art courses in order to improve her techniques. she loves what she does now even more because she can express herself with what she learned and she is now able to translate her love for Latino America and Canada onto the canvas.
Haydee Caycho
Haydee Caycho was born in Peru and lives in Thornhill, Ontario. Her artistic path started at PINCELES LATINOS ART STUDIO (Casa Maíz) in 2019, where she continues taking classes, learning different techniques, and developing her personal style. She has an affinity to Hyperrealist art and working with acrylic from photographic images; still, life and flowers are her preference. Haydee has always been in contact with the art world since her father was a painter whose technique was the oil.
Luz Helena Fernandez
My Name is Luz Elena Fernández. Originally from Mexico City. I studied Design, Interior Decoration and, Art History in Mexico. Within professional preparation, I had the opportunity to learn plastic arts by trying different techniques and crafts that led me to enrich my love for art and drawing.
My family and I started a new chapter in Canada in 2000. My dedication to the family has been my priority although my desire to continue learning has allowed me the time to study and volunteer to integrate Canadian culture My art focuses on capturing motifs from my land that I love so much, "Mexico.".
Matias Larzabal
Artist and designer, who was captivated by the urban development of his native Medellin, and saw a muse in the different colours, materials, and textures that make up each of the urban constructions.
This new Colombian artist offers us her art full of colour with clean and symmetrical strokes, merging in each canvas the concepts of modern art, architecture, and design, thus opening the way to a new proposal in the field of painting.

"My name is Ruth Xospa. I am a photographer. My style is very oriented towards fashion photography. My career as a photographer has given me the opportunity to meet and work with great artists, musicians, celebrities, and top models in Mexico, Spain, Latin America Europe, and Africa, accumulating great experiences and of course beautiful photographs.
I define photography as my need to express something, in this case, my pictures are focused on the search for aesthetics, an emotion, or a feeling, this is key in my process. I think it’s great to have the power to transmit these emotions thru my images to the people so that they can form their own interpretation. I think that capturing the images with the heart is what makes photography interesting to me I am a melancholic of romantic aesthetics and I love black and white photography".

Dibuja, pinta y realiza artes plásticas desde los 4 años. Se caracteriza por ser muy sociable, alegre y buena amiga. Ha participado en varias exhibiciones de arte organizadas por la Casa Cultural Colombiana.Se siente orgullosa de tener raíces latinas y ama nuestra cultura.
